MARTHA CHIZUMA FLOORED AS CHAKWERA CUTS HER ACB BUDGET: PARLIAMENT FURIOUS WITH THE MOVE
Member of the Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament, Gerald Phiri, who is legislator for Salima Central, says there is need to understand why there is a budget cut as people have more expectations from ACB in fighting corruption.
Phiri says even though the budget is for nine months, people are looking for results.
He added that messages of corruption prevention must be more visible on the ground, especially among communities.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is appearing before the Legal Affairs Committe of Parliament to discuss budget allocation for the 2021/2022 financial year.
According to ACB, their 2021/2022 budget allocation has a deficit of K647.6 million as Treasury has only allocated K3.9 billion from the budget estimate of K4.6 billion.
