Woman dies after electrocution

SALIMA (MalawiTalk) – A woman has died after electrocution after a tree she was cutting down fell on electricity lines.

Salima police deputy publicist, Prisca Kuyere Mtikwa, has identified the deceased as 34-year-old Thokozani Khita of Chilambula village, Traditional Authority Kambalame in the district.

It is reported that the woman was in her maize garden where a tree she was cutting down and landed on an ESCOM line and she got electrocuted.

She died on the spot.

Postmortem showed that death was due to suffocation secondary to electric shock.
