Malawi police to establish FM radio station

Happy Mkandawire - Police to be on air

ZOMBA(Correspondent)- Malawi Police Service says it will soon establish a radio station to bring its services closer to the people.

Speaking on Monday April 12 20201 during a training of police spokespersons at Zomba Police College, Eastern Region Police Commissioner Happy Mkandawire said the station to be called Police FM Radio Station, will help combat crime.

He said: “We saw it fit to have  our own mouthpiece to reach out to a wider community in bolstering security.

“It is our expectation that the radio station will greatly help in informing the public about security matters.”

Mkandawire argued that the Media Institute  of Southern Africa (Misa) Malawi Chapter to engage police public relations officers in radio communication and production.

On her part, Misa- Malawi chairperson Mrs Tereza Ndanga hailed the police for the radio project, describing it as a huge milestone.
