LIWONDE (MalawiTalk) –All is set for the first ever poetry performance dubbed Mmemo wa Ndakatulo on Good Friday at Liwonde township with legendary poet Benedicto Wokomaatani Malunga as the headliner at Dreams Stopover open space.
Apparently, Liwonde is the home town of Malunga who rose to stardom after authoring a number of poems in both English and Chichewa including the popular Ndidzakutengera ku Nyanja Ligineti.
The legendary poet, who is also egistrar of the University of Malawi, has just released a new album titled, Ulaliki wa Moto which will be recited and offered for sale at the event.
Malunga will be supported by Blantyre-based spoken word artist, Paul Sezzie and a selected poets from Lilongwe.
In order to give some diversity to the menu, Idrissa Kalisinje of Malawi Broadcasting Corportration (MBC) will recite Yao poems.
A program released by Dreams Stopover management indicates that KaraOmula band, an acoustic music outfit will perform at the event.
According to the program the audience will be given an opportunity to sample a variety of local food and drink such as thobwa .
