LILONGWE (MalawiTalk) – At least 13 police officers are facing disciplinary action on ambigous charge of “refusing to work with the current government.”
Communication from the police headquarters in Lilongwe, in hand written to officers-in-charge of the accused, does not say how and where the police officers “refused to work with the current government.”
Inside sources say the Lazarus Chakwera administration is purging all those seen to be sympathisers of the Democratic Progressive Party and promoting Malawi Congress Party loyalists and those coming from central region.
Minister of Homeland Security Mr Richard Chimwendo Banda and police IG are from central region.

Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner of Prisons Wandika Phiri has been suspended.
The acting Chief Commissioner of Prisons is Clement Kainja , a brother to the police IG George Kainja.
