Covid-19 vaccination exercise goes to Capital Hill

LILONGWE (MalawiTalk) –Civil servants in Lilongwe from Monday to Friday  will get the much after sought life saving Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine right away at Capital Hill, the seat of government in the Capital City.

According to a schedule released by the ministry of Health, secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet Mr Zangazanga Chikhosi, deputy secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, principal secretaries and heads of Constitutional bodies, directors and deputy directors will get the jab on Monday.

All other civil servants and public officers will get the jab from Tuesday to Friday.

This comes after the government said the country will have enough Covid-19 vaccine for everybody.

Secretary for Health,  Dr Charles Mwansambo, made the remarks on Friday at a press briefing on the update of the COVID-19 situation in the country.

So far, 15,326 Malawians have received the jab since the launch of the vaccination program.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization Country Representative for Malawi, Dr Rose Nonhlahla Dhlamini, has assured Malawians of the safety and efficacy of the AstraZeneca vaccine saying its benefits outweigh the risks.
