LILONGWE (MalawiTalk) – Officials from the office of the Ombudsman have given a thumbs up to the director of prosecutions (DPP) for ordering the Inspector General of Malawi Police Service to prosecute all officers involved in the stealing of Covid-19 money.

It is believed billions of Covid-19 money has been stolen by  public officer and cops.

Apart from police officers, some civil servants and public servants continue to steal the Covid-19 money leaving public hospitals without equipment which has led to the death of many including two powerful cabinet ministers.

Top prosecutor Dr Steve Kayuni has recommended criminal investigations on officers who abused Covid -9 funds.

An earlier report by the Ombudsman revealed that 80 percent of the Covid-19 funds were used on allowances instead of fighting the pandemic.
