FREE EXPRESSION (MalawiTalk) – I don’t know who is fooling who, but I have an inclination to believe that the Chewa Heritage Foundation (Chefo) is taking Malawians for a ride.
These guys, riding on the incumbency of their fellow Chewa President, wants to make other Malawians less Malawian.
In fact, they want to walk in the footsteps of Lhomwes when Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ruled.
You see, we know, for a fact, that Chefo has been pushing President Dr Lazarus Chakwera to consider more Chewa in most key public positions.
We know, as a matter of fact, that such a project already took off—though in a tacitly tactical way to be suspected.
Perhaps moved by the slowness of the project, Chefo released a public statement calling on all Chewa professionals to register with them with an aim of ‘serving the Chewa nation’ better.
Well, after the backlash, Chefo moved quick with a perplexing letter dismissing their own letter as fake—a mark of trying to act sane in their sea of insanity.
In their grandeur of delusions, one need to submit to Chefo never to take Malawi in the painful travelled route of Mulhakho wa Alhomwe.
We are a multi-cultural society and so we must remain. We must celebrate our diversity and we should always avoid elements that wants to create super cultures within our midst.
That is why Chefo’s caressing positions must not be tolerated and celebrated. They need to told in the face that, as long as our eyes are open, we will not allow any move to Chewalise Malawi.
