BLANTYRE (MalawiTalk) – A top Super League of Malawi (Sulom) official has tested positive for covid-19, triggering fears of more infections in the football circles in the country.
Sulom President Tiya Somba Banda says in a statement that has tested positive for Covid-19.
Banda disclosed this on Wednesday evening.
“I would like to inform the football fraternity and the general public that I received confirmation today that I have tested positive for coronavirus.
“I am asymptomatic and have immediately placed myself in self-isolation and will remain in quarantine at least for 10 days in line with the Ministry of Health Guidance on Home Based Management of Persons with Asymptomatic and Mild Covid-19 symptoms,” the statement reads.
Some football players and officials have tested positive for covid-19 whose second wave has hit Malawi hard with over 300 deaths.
