BLANTYRE (MalawiTalk) – A former principal secretary who has dragged the government to court for unlawful dismissal says he is waiting for the High Court to set date for compensation hearing.
Mr Paul Maulidi lawyer for Mr Christopher Makileni, former principal secretary for the ministry of local government has said his client is waiting for the court to set a date to hear when government can start compensating his client.
The industrial relations Court ordered government to pay a Makileni K754 million after he sued and alleged political victimisation.
The court, by consent order between Makileni and the Attorney General- entered on August 2020, has ordered government to pay him K754 million Kwacha – in pension, loss of use of motor vehicle, fuel and salary before tax.
Maulidi says discussions between the government and Makileni over his K750 million claim collapsed.
According to the lawyer, Makileni is just waiting for a directive from the court on how the consent order between him and the Attorney General should be implemented.
