Nyamilandu - FIFA quashes maladministration allegations leveled against him

BLANTYRE (SWAM) –Football Association of Malawi President Mr Walter Nyamilandu has rallied football supporters to support their “beloved” teams from the comfort of their homes, ahead of this weekend’s TNM Super League matches.

Nyamilandu’s call follows the decision by the Presidential Task-force on Covid-19 to reinstate a ban on gatherings exceeding more than 100 people by the Presidential Task-force on Covid-19.

Subsequently, the move has forced Super League of Malawi on Wednesday to announce that all super league games scheduled for this weekend and thereafter will be played under closed sessions of not more than a 100 people.

In a brief message to football supporters, Nyamilandu said: “I know how disappointed you are that you will not be able to support your beloved teams in person from different stadiums across the country at least for now.

“Nonetheless, I encourage you to solidly rally behind your teams from the coziness and safety of your homes.

“Such being the case, let me take this opportunity to request you all not to travel to any stadium where Super League games are scheduled to take place this coming weekend.

Finally, dear supporters, i wish to tell you that supporting your teams from home and strictly adhering to government’s set Covid-19 preventive protocols, actually keeps “your friends, your family” and all football lovers safe.”

According to the country’s Presidential Task-Force on Covid-19, the ban enforced due to the upsurge in Covid-19 cases, will run for at least two weeks although the period may be reviewed depending on the situation within the stated timeline.

Nyamilandu – I know its not easy but take heart
