JOHANNESBURG –Malawi national football team coach, Meck Mwase and South African Premier League side, Orlando Pirates coach, Josef Zinnbauer can afford a smile following the return of striker Gabadinho Mhango on the pitch.
Mhango, the joint top goal scorer for the DSTV Premiere League picked an injury while playing for his club against Stellenbosch FC, which saw him miss four games, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) back-to-back qualifiers against Burkina Faso which Malawi played a week ago.
Orlando Pirates have confirmed through their website that Mhango has fully recovered and is back in training with the team.
“The Bucs technical team has been boosted with the latest news to come out of the medical department. Josef Zinnbauer and his brains trust welcome back 2019/20 top goalscorer Gabadinho Mhango who returns to full training after recovering from injury,” reads the statement.
The former Nyasa Big Bullets star might have a tough task to retain his place in the squad as his replacements equally took some good scoring opportunities for the side.
“The return of the Malawian international comes in at the right time and will surely give Zinnbauer a welcome selection headache up front in the upcoming matches with the likes of Zakele Lepasa and Tshegofatso Mabasa firing on all cylinders. Both strikers were on the scoresheet in Orlando Pirates’ come-from-behind victory over SuperSport United at the weekend,” reads further the statement.
The Bucks beat SuperSport United 2-1 over the weekend to be on third place with eight points from the four games played.
